As an Edgars Club member, you and your spouse and children will have access to the following emergency assistance:
Primary medical response and transport Our call centre works around the clock 365 days a year to arrange and facilitate the relevant emergency response for you. They’re also qualified to guide you with the right advice and will arrange for a primary response team to assist and stabilise while simultaneously dispatching an ambulance to transport the injured to the closest hospital (NHRPL rates apply).
Medical repatriation If you are hospitalised outside of your hometown, we will arrange – and pay – for you to be repatriated to your hometown provided it is justified by your doctor (NHRPL rates apply).
Urgent relay of messages, escorting of minors and compassionate visits Upon your request, our team will arrange and coordinate your request and pay for assistance (up to a maximum of R2 000 per annum).
Emergency medical advice and assistance Through our 24-hour contact centre, our operators are on hand to guide you through a medical crisis by providing emergency advice or by organising for you to receive the support required. This service includes referrals to crisis lines for family and domestic abuse, child abuse, bereavement counselling, suicide and poison.
Locksmith, jumpstart, flat tyre, fuel Should you need assistance for any minor roadside events, we can arrange for the closest and most appropriate provider to assist. We can also help with making payment for the callout, plus one hour. Our on-road assistance provides up to 10 litres of fuel and our off-road assistance provides fuel for your own account (callout plus one hour). Should you require a tyre change, you’ll need to have a spare tyre for the assistance to be provided. Our locksmith and jumpstart assistance covers callout plus one hour.
Towing Whether you’re stranded in town or on the outskirts due to an electrical or mechanical fault or an accident, towing assistance will be arranged, getting you to the nearest dealer, with the full cost being covered. Please note: all home-bound towing to safe storage will be for your own account, as well as accident towing, although we are able to assist you with management of this.
Accident towing If your vehicle is involved in an accident and needs to be towed, assistance can be arranged on a member-to pay-basis should it not be possible to refer the member to its relevant 24/7 insurance helpline.
Storage We cover the safe storage of your vehicle for 48 hours, until it can be delivered to the repairer.
Hotel accommodation, car hire, taxis Should you be in an accident or your car breaks down, we can arrange and pay up to R1 000 per incident to assist with hotel accommodation, a hire car or a taxi to ensure you continue your journey safely.
Motorcycle repatriation We can arrange for your motorcycle to be returned to you after repairs (up to R500 per incident).
Please note: for roadside assistance, towing, storage, hotel accommodation and motorcycle repatriation services, all Edgars Club members are covered for a total of two incidents or a maximum of R5 000 per annum, whichever comes first.
Plumbers, glaziers, electricians, locksmiths Should you need assistance for any home emergencies, we can arrange for the closest and most appropriate provider to assist, as well as cover the costs for callout plus one hour. All parts and additional labour are not included. This benefit applies to a maximum of three callouts per member or R2 000 cover per annum per member (whichever comes first).
We offer 24-hour telephonic referral and advisory benefits. Our call centre – 0861 44 11 11 – is manned by qualified nurses 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, who are on hand to dispense medical advice.
LEGAL ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE
We offer access to a full panel of professional and practicing attorneys who are on hand to assist you with legal matters pertaining to criminal offences, labour, fines, debt, contracts, divorce, maintenance and motor vehicle accidents. You’re covered for one free 30-minute consultation, one free letter and one telephone call. We also have standard documents available to you that may be useful with regards to divorce, small claims court, child maintenance, domestic employment agreements, lease, purchase and sale agreements as well as last will and testament.
MOBILE NOTIFICATION QUESTIONS
As an Edgars Club member, you will receive an SMS notifying you of the update on your active case. After lodging a call (and us opening a case) we will SMS you the details of the case manager, a reference number and once the service provider has been appointed, we will send you their details and the (estimated time of arrival) and keep you up to date with any changes made to the case.

Be sure to have your Edgars Club card and account number on hand. Should your spouse or children make the emergency call, they will need to provide your ID number if you are the main member.
Applicable tiers: Edgars Club VIP, Club Life and Club Classic
We understand that everyone has different needs,
so we’ve got three tiers to suit every pocket.
- These services are available 24/7/365 days and cover Call Out and 1 hour but exclude parts which are for the member’s account.
- A Club member whose account is in good standing may use any of the benefits up to a maximum of R5,000 per annum for themselves and their direct dependents; valid on three claims a year.
- Mechanical and electrical breakdown: A towing service is provided to tow the vehicle to the nearest place of repair (dealer) of safekeeping.
- Home Assistance programme provides assistance to you when you are involved in a Home Emergency (containment only). A Home emergency means any sudden, unexpected and/or unforeseen event at your home requiring the immediate / urgent services of a domestic tradesman to limit/ minimise or prevent further damage to the home or to prevent a sanitisation risk.
- Where the incident is not considered an emergency that requires immediate attention, a referral service to a relevant Service Provider is provided and all costs will be for the member’s account.
